In cricket (including IPL 2025), the batting strike rate measures how quickly a batter scores runs.
👉 Definition:
Strike Rate (SR) = (Total Runs Scored ÷ Total Balls Faced) × 100
It tells how many runs a batter scores per 100 balls faced.
Example:
-
If a player scores 50 runs off 25 balls,
Strike Rate = (50 ÷ 25) × 100 = 200
That means the player is scoring 200 runs per 100 balls — super aggressive!
Why it matters in IPL:
-
IPL is a T20 league (20 overs = 120 balls per team), so scoring quickly is crucial.
-
Players with a high strike rate (like over 140–150) are very valuable.
-
Especially important for openers, finishers, and power hitters.
